Basta® Non-Selective Herbicide is a versatile non-selective knockdown herbicide registered for the control of over 80 weed species in a wide range of crops. Basta is particularly effective on some of the most damaging and hard-to-control weeds in horticulture.

Product features
- Non-selective and broad-spectrum: Controls over 80 types of weeds, including grasses and broadleaf weeds.
- Active ingredient: Glufosinate-ammonium.
- Type of action: A contact herbicide that shows some limited systemic (internal) action. It is absorbed by the foliage and green stems of the plant.
- Knockdown control: Visible signs of wilting and yellowing appear within a few days, with complete desiccation occurring within two to three weeks.
- No residual control: Basta does not stay active in the soil and provides no residual control of weeds. This makes it suitable for use around valuable crops.
- Weed resistance management: As a Group 10 herbicide, it offers an alternative mode of action to manage weeds that have developed resistance to glyphosate.
Best practices for application
For best results, Basta should be applied when weeds are actively growing, and thorough coverage of the target plants is essential.
- Timing: Apply when weeds are at a young growth stage, such as the 3–5 leaf stage.
- Conditions:
- Works best in warm, humid conditions with temperatures below 33°C and relative humidity above 50%.
- Avoid applying in hot, dry, or windy conditions.
- Do not apply to weeds that are under stress from drought or frost.
- Rainfast: It is rainfast within 6 hours of application.
- Safety: As a non-selective herbicide, avoid spray drift onto desirable plants.
When spraying around crops, use a hood or shield to protect them from contact.
